Gum Grafts

Gum grafts can address multiple issues.

They can increase the amount of gum covering a tooth with recession (exposed tooth roots). This can protect the tooth because there is an increased risk of decay and cavities that comes with exposed roots.

Gum grafts can improve one’s smile by addressing the cosmetic concerns of longer teeth and exposed roots, which may be a different colour than the rest of the teeth.

Most importantly, gum grafts can help to improve one’s long-term oral health. They can make it easier to clean one’s teeth in cases where root exposure has made it more difficult to clean them properly. Gum grafts can also help to prevent further recession and bone loss around teeth.

Gum grafts can also be recommended in certain cases for implants. They can be beneficial to maintain or improve the health of the supporting tissues around implants that have thin gums or exposure of implant threads.
